Compounded Liraglutide

*Compounded medications may be prescribed by physicians but have not been FDA regulated for safety, effectiveness, or quality. FDA-approved medicines containing semaglutide are available.

Potential Drug Interactions

Patients should consult their provider before using multiple GLP-1 medications (e.g., Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Rybelsus®).
Patients using insulin or sulfonylureas should speak with their provider about potential adjustments to avoid low blood sugar.
Certain medications may interact with GLP-1 receptor agonists—patients should consult their provider or pharmacist regarding possible interactions.

Serious Risks:

Thyroid Tumors & Cancer: Some FDA-approved GLP-1 medications include a boxed warning related to thyroid tumors observed in animal studies.
Pancreatitis Risk: Patients should contact their provider if they experience severe abdominal pain.
Kidney Function: Dehydration may contribute to kidney issues in certain individuals.

Not recommended for individuals with:

Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
History of pancreatitis
Severe kidney disease
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Type 1 diabetes

Use with caution in individuals with:

Diabetic retinopathy (consult a healthcare provider for personalized guidance)

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to conceive should consult their healthcare provider to determine if treatment is appropriate.

MintFit Weight Loss Kit

The MintFit Weight Loss Kit includes a customized combination of medications that may include Low Dose Naltrexone, Bupropion XL, Metformin ER, Acarbose, Inositol, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Orlistat, and B12/B6 injections.

BLACK BOX WARNING: Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors (Bupropion)

Bupropion may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in patients under age 24. Monitor for new or worsening depression, mood changes, agitation, or suicidal ideation, especially in the first few months of use. Families and caregivers should report any concerning changes immediately.

Contraindications:

History of seizures or eating disorders (for Bupropion)
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Allergy to any included medication

Common Side Effects:

Nausea, diarrhea, gas, or bloating
Headache, dizziness, decreased appetite
Vivid dreams or insomnia
Temporary fatigue or muscle aches

Ingredient-Specific Risks:

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN): Vivid dreams, insomnia, headache, nausea. Discontinue 48 hours before sedation.

Inositol: May cause nausea or hypoglycemia when combined with glucose-lowering agents. May affect mineral absorption at high doses.

Acetyl L-Carnitine: Body odor, GI upset, or cramping at higher doses.

Metformin ER: Metallic taste, gas, GI upset. Rare but serious risk: lactic acidosis.

Acarbose: Abdominal gas and bloating. Must treat hypoglycemia with glucose tablets, not sucrose.

Orlistat: Oily stools, flatulence, urgency. Reduces absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). Take multivitamins 2 hours apart.

Bupropion XL: Agitation, dry mouth, headache, increased seizure risk, especially with abrupt discontinuation.

Methylcobalamin (B12) & Pyridoxine (B6): Rarely, tingling or nerve symptoms with high doses of B6.

Important Considerations:

Report any history of seizures, eating disorders, or mood disorders to your provider.
Orlistat requires a reduced-fat diet and multivitamin spacing.
Monitor B12 levels during long-term Metformin use.
Follow your provider's titration schedule to reduce side effects.

Wegovy®

BLACK BOX WARNING:

GLP-1s are contraindicated in individuals with a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, a family history of such, or in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2. Do not take them if you have ever had thyroid cancer. In studies with rodents, GLP-1s caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer; it is not known if they will cause thyroid tumors or cancer in humans. Please notify your doctor ASAP if you develop trouble swallowing, hoarseness, a lump or swelling in your neck, or shortness of breath.

If you experience a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Tell your healthcare provider about your medical history prior to taking Wegovy®.

Avoid alcohol while taking this medication. If you’re taking diabetes medications, please discuss this with your prescribing doctor before starting Wegovy®, as your diabetes medications may need to be adjusted as you lose weight.

Use adequate contraception while taking this medication. Do not take this medication if pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding. If you plan to become pregnant, this medication needs to be stopped at least 2 months before trying. This medication may cause fetal harm.

Notify your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or pancreas problems.

Stop using Wegovy® and call your healthcare provider immediately if you have severe stomach or abdomen pain that will not go away, with or without vomiting.

Stop using Wegovy® and get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; problems breathing or swallowing; severe rash or itching; fainting or feeling dizzy; or very rapid heartbeat.

Serious hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis and angioedema) have been reported. Discontinue Wegovy® if suspected and promptly seek medical advice.

WARNING

Please contact your doctor ASAP and seek in-person care immediately if a side effect becomes problematic or you experience:

Severe nausea and/or vomiting resulting in dehydration
Kidney problems/kidney failure
Thyroid C-Cell Tumor symptoms
Pancreatitis
Acute gallbladder disease
Hepatitis/Elevated liver enzymes/Jaundice
Diabetic retinopathy problems
Severe gastrointestinal disease
Signs of low blood sugar
Increasing heart rate
Worsening depression, behavior changes, or suicidality

Never share the Wegovy® pen with other people.

Drug Interactions

As with other medications, Wegovy® can interact with alcohol and certain prescription and non-prescription medications and herbal products. The risk of hypoglycemia is increased when combined with insulin or insulin secretagogues such as sulfonylureas. Wegovy® delays gastric emptying and may impact the absorption of oral medications. If you are on thyroid hormone medication, prior to starting Wegovy®, please review the timing of taking your thyroid hormone medication with the doctor who prescribes it as it may need to be adjusted. The drug levels of medications with narrow therapeutic windows (ie warfarin) should be monitored closely while on Wegovy®.

Zepbound®

Safety Information

Do not use if you have been diagnosed with the following:

Diabetic ketoacidosis
Type 1 diabetes
Diabetic retinopathy
Kidney disease
Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
Thyroid cancer
Pancreatitis

Some side effects may occur that do not require medical attention, as they may lessen as your body adjusts to the medication. You may experience more gastrointestinal (GI) side effects when you increase your dose, however it should be less over time. Reach out to your healthcare provider if you experience any unwanted side effects as there may be ways to prevent or reduce side effects.

Zepbound™ Product Information

Zepbound™ is an injectable prescription medicine that may help adults with obesity, or with excess weight (overweight) who also have weight-related medical problems, lose weight and keep it off. It should be used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Zepbound™ contains tirzepatide and should not be used with other tirzepatide-containing products or any GLP-1 receptor agonist medicines.

It is not known if Zepbound is safe and effective with other weight loss medications or in people with a history of pancreatitis. It is not approved for individuals under 18 years old.

Warning

Zepbound™ may cause thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. Watch for possible symptoms like a neck lump, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. Do not use Zepbound™ if:

You or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
You have MEN 2 syndrome
You’ve had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide

Serious Side Effects

Severe stomach issues that do not go away
Kidney problems from dehydration
Gallbladder disease (pain, jaundice, pale stools)
Pancreatitis (abdominal pain radiating to back)
Serious allergic reactions (swelling, rash, fainting)
Low blood sugar if taken with insulin or sulfonylureas
Worsening vision in diabetic retinopathy
Depression, suicidal thoughts or behaviors

Before Using Zepbound™

Tell your provider about all medications, including insulin or diabetes drugs
Discuss birth control options—Zepbound may impact effectiveness of oral contraceptives
Inform your provider of any pancreas, kidney, or stomach conditions
If pregnant or planning to become pregnant, discuss risks. Discontinue at least 2 months before trying to conceive.
